Main business for SI Synergy Technology Co., Ltd. is development of dispensable social infrastructure systems, including terrestrial digital broadcasting, dam control systems and railway signal recording, and manufacture of equipment. In 2015, leveraging technologies it developed in these fields, the Company developed in-house product “Industrial-Use Audio Broadcast Network Terminal Device VOICE-IP TERMINAL,” which became a certified product under the Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s Trial Order Certification System. Based on its management philosophy of “Contributing to People and Society,” going forward the Company will continue to challenge developing new technologies, and we interviewed President and Representative Director Hideyuki Shimura and Senior Executive Director Noriaki Ikeda.

Performing an important role in supporting social infrastructure through its unique technological capability

SI Synergy Technology is a venture firm started up with engineers from the design division of an IT-related firm where President Shimura formerly worked. The Company was founded in 2013, so its history is still short, however, the assembled team of engineers is comprised of veterans ranging from 38 to 50 years old, and its capabilities have received high marks from the beginning.
“Systems that we develop and equipment that we manufacture include terrestrial digital broadcasting, dam control systems, railway signal recording etc, each directly linked to the heart of society. In the event of an outage, critical problems would arise such as ‘TV suddenly stopped broadcasting,’ ‘the water supply was cut off’ and ‘the trains stopped running,’ raising the risk of a complete breakdown in day-to-day living. While total employees of the Company are still only 9 individuals, we pride ourselves in the great trust being placed in our technological capabilities for the importance of the work being entrusted to us.” (Mr. Shimura)
What further raised praise for the Company was in-house developed product “Industrial-Use Audio Broadcast Network Terminal Device VOICE-IP TERMINAL,” which became a certified product under the Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s Trial Order Certification System.
“Until now, speech was broadcast (transmitted) over the internet using a software solution, and our “VOICE-IP TERMINAL” product achieves this by replacing software with hardware using our proprietary technology. Benefits of replacing software with hardware including becoming more compact, lower cost, and a significant reduction in start-up time without the need for OS built-in to a PC, carrying a 7-year warranty attesting to its high reliability, things that had not been possible until now.” (Mr. Ikeda)
By installing this device at the points of transmission and reception, it’s able to construct a low-cost audio broadcast network without introducing switching equipment and server required until now; accelerated processing capability allows 1 terminal device to handle large-scale broadcasts equivalent to 1,000 units. Also, by eliminating a transmission server, probability of breakdown declines, succeeding in lowering operating costs.
“Since all network processing including OS is achieved through a hardware solution, in principle, risk of cyber attacks is eliminated, resulting in a more advanced level of security.” (Mr. Shimura)

“Industrial-Use Audio Broadcast Network Terminal Device VOICE-IP TERMINAL” achieves year-round 24/7 unattended operations.

Raising post-certification corporate value through sales, operations, finance, etc.

Example applications of this product include wide area disaster prevention broadcasting, and construction of audio networks within public facilities such as buildings, stations, airports, schools and factories. This is directly linked to the Company’s stated goal of “Contributing to People and Society.”
We have already sold 23 units/1 system for use as a wide-area public address system within the grounds of a race track for horse racing. Also, by gaining product certification under the Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s Trial Order Certification System, we have earned the right to conduct marketing on a preferential basis to related facilities of the City, can exhibit without charge at industry trade conventions and others, with a large increase in business opportunities.” (Mr. Ikeda)
“We have been able to receive a variety of benefits including sales, operations, as well as finance in gaining a high level of trust from financial institutions.” (Mr. Shimura)

Manufacturing workshop within SI Synergy Technology. The Company has a business tie-up with the Hanoi University of Science and Technology, and has a locally incorporated subsidiary in Vietnam.

The Company can maintain close cooperation with clients by being located in Tokyo.

Finally we asked about the benefits of being located in Tokyo.
“First, it is an environment that is easy to qualify for many types of subsidy programs. In our case, the Company qualified for the subsidy program for founding in local Hachioji City as well as loan program. Second, since many of our client firms are gathered in Tokyo, a major attractive point is that we can respond on the scene immediately in the event something arises. In particular, while of course we must have frequent meetings and discussions with clients, since we are also frequently required to take a piece of equipment whose operation has been confirmed by us in-house to the client firm and re-confirm that it works after installing in the client’s apparatus, having an office in a nearby location is an essential prerequisite.” (Mr. Shimura)
Incidentally, the Company has already achieved success in taking the aforementioned “VOICE-IP TERMINAL” to evolving to the next level with the world’s smallest ultra-compact industrial-use audio broadcast network reception terminal “VOICE-IP RECEIVER μ.” On the back of its unique high technological capability and benefit from being located in Tokyo, the Company appears likely to make even further strides.

“VOICE-IP TERMINAL” advanced version “VOICE-IP RECEIVER μ”. Ultra-compact dimensions of W26 x H22 x D38mm are easy to install anywhere. New product of SI Synergy Technology with high expectations.
