Kyoritsu Koki, K.K. (Ohta City)
Kyoritsu Koki, K.K., manufactures metal parts that are used in automobiles, construction machinery, and other transport equipment. The company has acquired ISO9001/14001 approval, and supplies high-quality products to its customers while paying attention to the environment. Kyoritsu Koki directly deals with the major finished-automobile makers, which demonstrates its high reliability. The following is an excerpt of an interview with President Masahiro Suzuki.
Since my father founded this company in 1953 in Higashi-Kojiya in Ota City, we have operated our business here. With the progress of motorization, we have specialized in manufacturing transport equipment parts. Today, we provide the major automakers and construction machinery makers with our products, including hydraulic and pneumatic piping joints for the brakes of transport equipment. In addition to transport equipment, we engage in machine work for general metal parts.
We quickly respond to and extensively handle our customers’ needs, ranging from trial prototypes to manufactured products, and from casting, forging and to any needed materials, including aluminum and stainless steel. We are often asked advice directly from our customers in development and production departments about quality improvement and cost reduction, and we offer constructive suggestions to them. We believe that our ability to respond flexibly is one of our strengths.
Recognizing that delivery accuracy is also an aspect of quality service, we make efforts to enhance capacity utilization in a creative way, using our original methods plus a focus on rapid, just-in-time deliveries.
As for our new activities, we have established the “No More Subcontract Work Project” in partnership with four manufacturers in Ota City. Our aim is development of a system to manufacture and supply proprietary products with emphasis on liquid crystal digital signboards, and to become a finished product maker in the community. This project was certified for the “Key Technology Industry Group Support Program," which is implemented by the Bureau of Industrial Labor Offices of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government. In addition, we participate in the “Design Development Project” for small- and medium-sized companies and design colleges, organized by the Bureau of Industrial Labor Offices of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the Tokyo Metropolitan Small and Medium Enterprise Support Center. In cooperation with the College of Art of Nihon University, we developed “indoor universal-design information equipment.” Starting from these activities, we desire to give new impetus to our business operations in cooperation with the manufacturers in the community.
The Omori/Kojiya/Haneda area in Ota City, where our company is located, is one of the most famous areas where small- and medium-sized manufacturers are concentrated. The area has the best access to transportation, within a five-minute drive to the highway, and is closely located to Haneda Airport and Shinagawa Station on the Tokaido Shinkansen line. This is a very important factor, providing us with a close physical proximity to our customers.
Moreover, in our neighborhood, we have raw material suppliers, foundries/forges and firms specializing in plating, grinding and heat treatment, and thus we can simply call and place an order for virtually anything. In rural areas, however, it is common that something is missing and only large orders are received. This indicates the convenience of our location.
We always try to have a conversation on equal terms with our staff about topics other than business at our workplace, aiming at creating a family-like corporate culture. Most of the staff lives in the vicinity of our company, which offers an ideal and convenient lifestyle infrastructure, with extensive greenery at local parks, for example.
